Remembering the Queen's Life in Color

Colorized photographs of Her Majesty celebrate her life, now seen in color for the first time.

The Royal Coronation

Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2, 1953, at Westminster Abbey in London. The ceremony was a combination of tradition and modern. Millions worldwide watched the event on television.

World War II Service

During World War II, Princess Elizabeth joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service in 1940, training as a driver and mechanic. Though not on the front lines, her service symbolized solidarity and contributed to the wartime effort, reflecting the spirit of unity during a challenging period.

I have in sincerity pledged myself to your service, as so many of you are pledged to mine. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust.
